Care for injured postal workers in Jacksonville
Letter carriers, clerks, mail handlers and rural carriers do some of the most physically demanding work in the federal government. When an injury happens on the job, your care is covered under FECA and handled through OWCP.
Injury Federal Clinic treats postal employees and handles the paperwork that keeps a claim moving, from the first visit through return to work.
Common postal work injuries we treat
- Back, neck and shoulder injuries from lifting and carrying mail
- Knee, ankle and foot injuries from walking routes, steps and uneven ground
- Slips and falls on wet or icy surfaces
- Dog bites and related injuries
- Repetitive strain from sorting and casing mail
- Injuries from vehicle accidents on the route
How a postal injury claim usually starts
Report the injury to your supervisor right away. A sudden injury from one shift is usually filed on Form CA-1; a condition that built up over time, like repetitive strain, is usually filed on Form CA-2.
For a traumatic injury, ask for a Form CA-16 so your first visit is authorized. You have the right to choose your own treating physician, and you can name Injury Federal Clinic.

Common questions
Do I have to see the doctor USPS recommends?
No. Under FECA you may choose your initial treating physician. Changing doctors later generally requires OWCP approval.
Can you fill out my CA-17 for light duty?
Yes. Our physicians complete duty-status reports at your visits so your supervisor knows your current restrictions.
